Mark

October 23/2023

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have interviewed a number of people that have used our services over the years to get them to tell their stories about their work and about their experiences with Premier Personnel.

Mark has been working at Parian Logistics for the past 3 and a half years as an order picker in their ECommerce department. Mark feels that the job here suits him, he says it isn’t dirty, it isn’t heavy or noisy, and that allows him to really concentrate on his tasks and get them done efficiently. Parian has made it clear to him that he is the best at his position and they have the statistical breakdowns that prove it. He likes that he feels busy and that makes the time fly. He also appreciates that with this position he was able to get better pay and a benefits plan. He is a much-valued employee at Parian and they are grateful to have him and have used him to train new staff.

Mark came to Premier Personnel straight out of high school and joined our school-to-work program. We initially helped him get a job at Superstore that was a good starting point for him but he came to realize early on that it wasn’t necessarily the best fit for him as there were a lot of personal interactions with customers that he sometimes found difficult to work through. He was laid off and we assisted him to find something that was a better fit for his particular skills and personality. This led to a Shelf Straightener and Labeler job at McNally Robinson in Grant Park. He worked there for about 8 years and really enjoyed the position but they were never able to give him full-time hours. Mark wanted to be able to be more financially independent and asked Premier to help him find something with full-time hours and benefits and this led to him starting at Parian.

Mark has appreciated the support Premier Personnel has given him. “Premier has helped me get jobs I’m looking for and ones that I needed and I feel like this job has been going very well.” He looks forward to continued success at Parian and is grateful for the help he has received to get there. We are very excited to see Mark continue to flourish at Parian and to see him get opportunities to keep moving forward.

Shirley

October 26/2023

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have interviewed a number of people that have used our services over the years to get them to tell their stories about their work and about their experiences with Premier Personnel.

Shirley Kraynyk has been using Premier Personnel’s services since we opened our doors in 1983. She was right out of high school when we first met her. She currently works at Holiday Inn South as a dishwasher and has been there for the last 18 years. During that time she has had 5-6 Head Chefs she worked under and has appreciated what each of them was able to teach her. It took her a bit of time to learn her way around in such a large kitchen but she has learned many new skills over the years and now is often asked to help train the new dishwashers that come into their kitchen. Previous to Holiday Inn she had worked for around 8 years at a company called Syntex that was taken over by new ownership which led to her being laid off and it ended up taking a bit of time to find the next right job for her. She still remembers when she was told that she had been hired by Holiday Inn and how happy she felt about getting the opportunity to return to work.

Shirley has really appreciated the support that Premier has provided throughout her time in our program. When she needed help with things while working we were always ready and willing to support her. When she had some issues at Syntex we were able to help her sort them out. When Covid caused her to be temporarily laid off we were there to help her with some of the details needed to set up temporary financial support. During times when she needed help looking for work, she also appreciated our effort in finding new job opportunities for her.

Thank you Shirley for sharing your story with us. Premier Personnel is very proud of you for how successful you have been at Holiday Inn. We have had the honour of working with you for 40 years and seeing you demonstrate your skills and your bright personality to all of the people you have worked with, both at Holiday Inn and at Premier. We hope we can continue to walk with you throughout the rest of your employment journey.

Kim

October 23/2023

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have interviewed a number of people that have used our services over the years to get them to tell their stories about their work and about their experiences with Premier Personnel.

Kim has been a happy employee of Tim Horton’s McPhillips for 6 years now, which she is very proud of. She absolutely loves the people that she gets to work with, her coworkers are friendly and share her sense of humour, as well as the regulars that come to her store whom she has come to know by name. She has a twinkle in her eye when she tells me how her supervisor says to her, “You’re the best, you always do things the right way!” The pride she takes in her job is clear and noticeable and she hopes to stay there until she retires.

Kim came to Premier after a difficult period in her life and wanted support to help reestablish herself in a job after a long stretch without one. She started by getting a job at her local Safeway deli but lost that job when the store was closed to be remodeled. She was really anxious to find a job where she would feel accepted and part of a team. When she then was hired at Tim’s she knew she had found a home. Kim was very grateful that Premier was able to help her make that connection and particularly is thankful for the ongoing support we continue to provide as extra support and encouragement were needed during the Covid shutdowns.

Kim has some very kind words for Premier Personnel “You guys were very helpful in getting me going and gave me a chance when other people weren’t willing to help – you guys were number 1 and always will be” Thanks Kim, we are so happy to be able to continue to play a part in your employment success.

JP

October 26/2023

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have interviewed a number of people that have used our services over the years to get them to tell their stories about their work and about their experiences with Premier Personnel.

JP came to Premier Personnel in 2016 after having been out of the job market for a few years. He had a support worker who helped connect him to our program after he came to a realization that he felt he still had something to offer to an employer and wanted to get back at it. We were able to help make a connection with Day & Ross with some assistance from Ready Willing and Able. They were looking for someone to take on a new role to keep their warehouse and grounds clean and, after meeting JP, knew that they had their man.

JP has now been at Day & Ross for 6 years and loves his work, especially the people there that have been very welcoming and supportive of him. He takes great care in keeping the warehouse and grounds a clean and safe environment. He is very happy with his decision to return to the workforce and feels that he has a job where he belongs. He has appreciated the support that Premier provided to help him make that transition back to work.

Premier is really proud of what JP has been able to accomplish and are thankful to Day & Ross for giving him that opportunity. When we are able to make these kinds of matches it is very satisfying. Keep it up JP!

Greg

October 23/2023

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have interviewed a number of people that have used our services over the years to get them to tell their stories about their work and about their experiences with Premier Personnel.

Gregg works at Holiday Inn Airport West as a Houseperson, he describes his duties as making sure things look clean and that people are happy. As part of his job, he will bring a variety of things to the guests’ room varying from cots, to toothpaste, and whatever else they may need and he does it all with his own friendly flair and good humour which is always well-appreciated. Premier assisted Gregg in getting this position 12 years ago now and he sees this as the place he hopes to work at until he is ready for retirement.

The favourite part of the job for Gregg is the people that he has been able to work with over the years. He says that his coworkers and managers make the job fun for him and the different guests that he meets make the job interesting and challenging every day. Holiday Inn has been an excellent employer for Gregg and their support to him over the years has made him feel like part of a family.

Premier has been assisting Gregg with his employment since 1983, he was one of the very first clients we took on, and have seen him progress through various jobs that have shaped his skill set over the years. He is very appreciative of the support he has received and we are very proud of how successful he has been in various jobs along the way and are so happy to see him become an integral part of the Holiday Inn team.

Thank you Greg for sharing your story and we look forward to seeing you continue to shine at Holiday Inn Airport West.

Adam

October 26/2023

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have interviewed a number of people that have used our services over the years to get them to tell their stories about their work and about their experiences with Premier Personnel.

Adam Ash is feeling really good about his future these days. He started working for Pepsi almost exactly a year ago and feels like he is in the job that he was always meant to be. He is a quality control person making sure that all product that goes out has no damage or anything missing. He talks about how Pepsi has embraced him, how it’s a big company but feels small, and that they notice the value that he brings, especially on the days when he is away. Premier played an important role in helping Adam reach this point, helping with making the connection to Pepsi, assisting with the interview process and initial training, and then helping him through some initial hiccups at the beginning of his time there. He now feels that this is the job that will take him to the end of his career.

Adam has been working with Premier for quite a while now and he received assistance in a few jobs prior to this. Probably the most important experience he had was working 8 years at PPG doing pane glass manufacturing. From this job, he learned a lot of skills that he feels he has been able to bring to his new role. Adam appreciates the support he has had through the years from Premier and says that he would recommend PPC to other people looking to get their careers going.

He really appreciates the opportunities he has had and appreciates that he is well-accepted at Pepsi. In his words, “Pepsi sees that no one thinks like me and they appreciate the different perspective I bring.” We are proud of Adam’s success and hope that he has many more years to contribute his unique skill set.

Day & Ross

January 20/2020

We’d like to highlight JP’s success story.  He has been working at Day & Ross since May of 2017 as a cleaner in the truck docking area.  He keeps the work spaces free from debris, recycles materials that are around the shop, maintains outdoor spaces, and makes sure that everyone can move through the work space safely.  He is a very positive, upbeat employee and is very well regarded by coworkers and supervisors.  His position was a created under a pilot project to try and keep drivers and other staff on task but taking some of the duties that had to be done but weren’t really part of their job description and hiring someone to specifically get those done.  JP has done such a good job and it has gone so well that Day & Ross has been looking at hiring for similar positions across the country.  Way to go JP! and thank you Day & Ross for giving him the opportunity to prove himself.
